ASPIRE

imagebrowser imageAfter an unfortunate motorcycle accident and 27 surgeries I lost my leg below the knee. I went on to become a mother of two and the World Record holder in nine different events from the Ironman to the Marathon.

I recently moved to Long Island, and outside of my full time training as an elite athlete I donate my time to work with children who have had limb loss due to cancer, birth defects, trauma and many other diseases. Getting started in life is hard enough; imagine starting without a leg(s) or an arm(s).

Through a New York based non-for profit organization called ASPIRE, I have been giving these children experiences that will help them decide who they want to be rather than letting their disability decide. The children learn that they are only as limited as they allow themselves to be and are encouraged to get involved in everything life has to offer despite their personal obstacles. Some of the teams activities include: running, triathlons, ice-climbing, horseback riding, skiing and soccer, to name a few. www.aspirewithoutlimits.org
